RTSE Features

Well, despite saying that I wouldn’t start work on RTSE until February started, we’ve done a little work on it. My favorite thing so far is a feature in the forum. You know how when you click reply, it takes you to a new page? Well, no longer! Version 1.1.0 of RTSE will keep you on that very page so you can post your reply. You’ll even be able to reply to multiple people in one post easily. Now we just have to make quoting work well with the new setup, and it will be great!

Brandon is also working on some big CSS (how it looks for you non-developers out there) improvements with the editor. We’ve found more ways to keep themes from breaking the look and feel of it, and are tossing in some basic improvements as well. I want to add support for some more BBcode like lists, but we’ll see if we have time for that. I would like to get it out end of February so that people aren’t stuck with such a crappy version (1.0.x) for so long.

As always, feedback is appreciated!

    Well it’s already pretty damn sweet. Nice work!

    Frikkin’ awesome, it is. Also, do you think it would be possible to make an extension that would be like Gmail notifier that would have a toolbar that would signfy new alerts/new News kind of thing? Or a VIP watchlist kind of thing, so you would know when Burnie (or in ep. 72’s case, Geoff) posts to let us Sponsors know when the new stuff comesout?

    @Dirk:
    Those features are in the works, but I can’t comment as to what version they’ll be in.

    One feature I’d like to see is linked replies… for example, if I click the reply button, right now it inserts “[i]In reply to Whoever, #xxxx:[/i]”
    What I’d like to see is it inserting instead “[i]In reply to Whoever, [link=http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/forum/viewTopic.php?id=XXXXX&page=XX#cXXXXXXX]#xxxxx[/link][/i]”
    I’ve requested that for RT in general, but in the meantime it would be quite nice for RTSE to do that for me.

    @reed
    I’m not 100% sure that is possible, but most likely it is.
